Terms of Service
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
The short version: We're building something we think is useful, but we can't guarantee perfect uptime or instant support. Your data is yours: we never sell it, share it, or use it to train AI models. We handle refund requests case by case. The rest of this document covers the details.
About TreadLightlyAI
TreadLightlyAI is an AI-powered thinking tool that provides specialized assistance through seven distinct interaction modes.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Service Availability
The Service is provided "as is" on a best-effort basis. We aim for reliability, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Service may be suspended, paused, or discontinued without advance notice due to technical issues, maintenance, or other operational reasons.
We monitor production uptime and will make this information publicly available. If significant outages affect your use of the Service, you may be eligible for a refund (see Refund Policy below).
Your Account
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to get around plan limits or usage restrictions violates these Terms and may result in account termination.
Plans and Payment
Free tier: The Free tier is available while capacity allows. No credit card required. Free access may be paused or discontinued based on system capacity.
Payment processing: Our order process is conducted by our online payment processor Stripe.
Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. You can cancel anytime; your access continues until the end of your billing period. Prices may change with 30 days notice.
Token limits: Each plan includes a monthly token allocation. Your usage is visible on your profile page. Unused tokens don't roll over.
Acceptable Use
Use the Service for lawful purposes only. Don't use it to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content. Don't try to circumvent usage limits or access controls. Don't reverse engineer the Service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
If you share a conversation publicly, you are responsible for its content, and we may turn off a shared link that breaches these Terms.
If someone reports a shared conversation as violating these Terms, we may review the shared snapshot to evaluate the report, turn off the link, and, for repeated or serious violations, suspend or terminate the account under the Termination terms above. To report a shared conversation, email hello@treadlightly.ai with the link and a description of the concern.
Privacy Policy and Your Data
Your content belongs to you. You are expected to own everything that you submit to the Service. AI-generated output in response to your content also belongs to you.
We never sell, share, or harvest your data. Period. We don't use your conversations to train AI models. We don't share your data with third parties for marketing purpose. Your conversations exist solely to provide the Service to you, unless you choose to share one.
What we collect: Account information (email), usage data (features used, token consumption), conversation data (to provide the Service), and technical data (for security and performance).
Data retention: We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your conversations anytime. If you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days.
Security: We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take it seriously.
AI providers: Your queries are processed by third-party AI providers. Their data handling policies apply to data they process. See our Privacy Policy for current provider details.
Product update emails: When you create an account, you are subscribed to occasional product update emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or from your profile page. See our Privacy Policy for details.
File Storage and Retention
Storage limits: Each plan includes file storage for uploads such as images and PDFs: 200 MB on Free, 1 GB on Starter, 4 GB on Builder, and 20 GB on Advanced. Limits also apply to the number of files per conversation and uploads per month, which vary by plan.
Retention: Uploaded files are kept for one year from the date of upload. After that they expire, are no longer accessible, and may be permanently deleted. You can delete your files at any time.
Account deletion: If you delete your account, your files are removed along with the rest of your account data.
Not a backup service: File storage exists to support your conversations, not as a backup or archival service. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Refund Policy
Refunds: If you're not satisfied with a paid subscription, get in touch. We handle refund requests case by case.
Renewal refunds: For subscription renewals, refund requests must be made within 48 hours of the renewal charge.
Service issues: Refunds may be considered for significant service outages or technical issues.
How to request: Email support@treadlightly.ai with your account email and reason for the request. Refunds are typically processed within 5-10 business days.
Not eligible: Accounts terminated for Terms violations are not eligible for refunds.

Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You're responsible for reviewing any output before relying on it. The Service is not a substitute for professional advice (legal, medical, financial, engineering, or otherwise).
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Termination
You can cancel your subscription anytime through your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your account for Terms violations or at our discretion with reasonable notice. Service may also be interrupted without notice due to technical issues.
Upon termination, your access ends immediately. Be sure to export your data if you wish to retain it. We may retain certain data as required by law.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
